Who we are
Connecting Compton, founded in 2019, has a mission of providing the community of Compton with a safe space where individuals of all ages and all cultures can go with a sense of unity, belonging and pride. By building an equestrian center, it will not only improve the lives of children, adults, and veterans with cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities through the benefits of therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities; it will also provide a dynamic place for our youth and everyone interested in learning about the equestrian lifestyle. By providing safe spaces for educational-based programs to operate, it will create opportunities for the youth in our community to develop as skilled and responsible citizens, while integrating the of cultures of our beloved city in public open space. With an extensive background in education and positions of leadership, the Connecting Compton team offers exceptional experience with community engagement and education. Their common passions and desire to serve the greater community propelled them on a mission to build the Compton Multi-Cultural Equestrian Center. Their goal is to provide the community with a safe space that will open doors to numerous resources and opportunities for the residents of Compton, and to keep the traditional agriculture and equine lifestyle alive for generations to come.
Our Story
-
This story begins with a group of friends while attending Cal State University of Dominguez Hills and a shared passion. A passion for a lifestyle that is rooted to their ancestors, the land and its animals. A lifestyle that can be found in Compton’s historical community of Richland Farms. A community not many know of its existence.
Overwhelmed with the need to share this community and its culturally rich lifestyle with others the idea of building the Compton Multi-Cultural Equestrian center came to be.
-
Through the midst of a pandemic and with the desire to help others in their community, Connecting Compton began its community engagement.
The year 2020 would be a witness to the first ever El Dia del Ranchero (Day of the Rancher) Unity Ride and the initiative to shine the light on the Richland Farms community. This would set sail to a journey with a mission to best support Compton’s underserved starting with equestrian and agricultural youth programming.

Our ultimate vision is a safe space (Compton Multi-Cultural Equestrian Center) that connects resources to help alleviate our Compton communities needs.
Join us in creating a Gem that best represents everything thats great about Compton. A center that allows for year round youth programming and resources that opens the doors to all community members of all ages. All while conserving the beautiful equestrian and agricultural lifestyle.
